Potassium acetate, with the molecular formula C2H3KO2, is the potassium salt of acetic acid. Soluble in water, soluble in methanol, ethanol, fluid ammonia, insoluble in ether and acetone.

In general, it is white crystalline powder, easily deliquescent and has an alkaline odor.

Clinically, potassium acetate is an osmotic diuretic. After taking it, potassium ions are excreted by the kidneys, and at the same time, a large amount of water is brought out to play a diuretic effect.
