Introduction of Alizarin Red S
Alizarin red S, also known as sodium alizarin xanthate, is an anthraquinone derivative and is the sodium salt of alizarin sulfonate. Soluble in hot water and ethanol, insoluble in benzene and carbon tetrachloride.
Orange-yellow or yellow-brown powder, its aqueous solution is light yellow-brown, turns yellow after adding hydrochloric acid, and turns blue-purple after adding sodium hydroxide.
It can chelate with calcium salts in calcium carbonate or calcium phosphate to form an orange-red complex. Alizarin Red S tends to give more reliable results for staining small amounts of sediment. It is often used in combination with Fast Green or Mayer’s hematoxylin staining solution to form an orange-red precipitate, which is suitable for staining tissues with a small amount of calcium salts.
Alizarin red S has been widely used as a dye-type complexing agent in spectrophotometric analysis.

Application
1.Alizarin Red S is widely used as a dye, acid-base indicator and is one of the representative dyestuffs with a complex structure as well as a large chemical oxygen demand (COD) value.

3.Determination of fluoride. PH3.7 (yellow)-5.2(purple). It can produce colorimetric compounds with many metal ions for chromogenic reaction and colorimetric determination of zirconium, thorium, aluminum, Chemicalbook titanium and beryllium. Microscopic dyes, in vivo staining of nerve tissue, chromosomal staining in plant cytology, and reagents for the determination of Alopectin.
